Assalam, pada teman2 dan pengunjung blog curlybabe ni..yang masih sudi singgah dan ingat pada kita..maaf lah sekiranya selama 2 minggu asik dihidangkan dengan nasi kunyit aje ya..maaf juga kalau ada yang muntah kunyit..hehehe....actually the past weeks I was not in a mood..mana yang Marsya tak alih2 demam for the whole of last week then come this week, I was in & out of the house to settle certain things and adding sibuk buat birthday cake and cupcakes(goodies) for Marsya to bring over for her classmates...
This year, I baked Rainbow Cake for Marysa 6th birthday(12th July 2012)..memang dah lama aim nak buat... first because of the colours in the cake which I think sangat2 suitable for kids birthday cake khas for a little girl like Marsya...
Memang dah booked a few recipes actually, tapi I have decided using my Red Velvet Cake recipe before this...since Red velvet cake menggunakan red colour, so I thought, the batter should be ok if were to use different colours too..
Although the cake sebelum ni was to use cream cheese with a tint of sourish taste of lemon, this time, I tried using lemon buttercream frosting instead...and of cos cant miss & go without chocolate in every cake that I baked...mesti nak ada...hehe
The recipe below was what I have doubled and adjusted to suits for an 8" cake trays..it came out to be a tall cake..I managed to cut a slice, and quickly take a shot before the next thing the sliced of cake tumbang terpelanting ke bawah..hehe..(sebab tinggi sangat dia tak boleh stand still)..Macam biasa kalau kita buat cake, the first person to comment was my mum...'kau buat cake apa pulak kali ni..then I explainedlah nak buat cake pelangi..after dah siap semua..dia cakap ini satu bulan pun tak habis makan....sebab as you guys knew kan she tak suka cake2 yang ada cream cheese or buttercream and looking at my cake banyak 'buttercream putih' pulak tu..lagilah dia tak nak makan..Well lepas potong cake she saw the colourful layers ..the first comment was cantiknya cake ni!!(heheh mak puji anak dia) ..itu dia belum rasa lagi tau..sekali bila dia rasa,(kuis sikit2 cream ketepi) ..to my surprise dia cakap eh sedapnya kek kau ni!!!!!..ada rasa lemon, masam2 mak sukalah!!!!!...time tu nasib baik kita tak tertelan biji buah pulasan ...sebab my mum puji cake yang bercream macam ni dia cakap sedap..yes first time ni...
Mr Hubby who is not a cake person too cakap sedap..anak2 pun suka juga..Marsya the birthday girl pun suka,..walaupun dia sibuk dengan opening her gifts..
Overall, I am quite pleased with the combination & outcome of this cake, although not so nicely decorated...:(
This year too, I did not post Marsya's photo here in my blog (so sad) cos of the blog theft incident before this..so I just posted her birthday cake ajelah ...
In the next few days, Insyaallah kalau dipanjangkan usia, kita akan bertemu sekali lagi dengan Ramadan ...pasti kaum ibu, kaum wanita oops kaum adam juga yang akan sibuk memikirkan nak masak dan nak berbuka apa setiap hari... Insyaallah juga kalau dizinkan, kita ada waktu untuk mengupdate blog yang tak seberapa ni ..kita akan kongsi juga apa yang telah kita cuba dan masaklah ya..itu kalau ada lah..tapi yang pasti kita tak dapatlah nak update setiap hari during Ramadan macam tahun2 yang sudah...cause most probably I will cook menu2 yang sama dan ulang tayang...hehehe..
Rainbow Velvet Cake
Adapted from Red Velvet Cake
Ingredients:-
31/3 cup + 2 tbsp self raising flour-(31/3 cawan + 2 sudu besar tepung naik sendiri)
1 tsp baking soda-(1 sudu kecil baking soda)
250g butter- (250g mentega)
2 cup fine sugar- (Ayu used 11/2 cup)-(2 cawan gula halus-Ayu gunakan 11/2 cawan )
4 large eggs-(4 biji telur besar)
1 cup milk-(1 cawan susu)
1/2 cup buttermilk-(Ayu made 1/2 cup milk + 1/2 tbsp distilled vinegar- leave it for while abt 15-20 minutes)-(1/2
cawan buttermilk-Ayu buat 1/2 cawan susu + 1/2 sudu besar cuka biarkan
hingga 15-20 mint)
2 tsp vinegar-(2 sudu kecil cuka)
gel colours red, blue, orange yellow, green & purple(pewarna gel merah, biru, oren, kuning, hijau & ungu)
Method:-
Cream butter & sugar till creamy. Add eggs one at a time. Add
vanilla essence. Mix in dry ingredients(sifted) & milk plus
buttermilk in alternate batches, ending with dry ingredients. Lastly
stir in vinegar. Weigh batter and divide into roughly 260g each for 6 bowls. Mix colours on each bowl. Bake in a preheat oven at 170C for 10-15 minutes or
just cooked in an 8" tray -
(Pukul mentega & gula hingga
berkrim. Masukkan telur satu persatu. Masukkan esen vanilla. Masukkan
bahan kering(Yang sudah diayak), bersama dengan susu & buttermilk
bergilir2 berakhir dengan bahan kering. Akhir sekali masukkan cuka dan
gaul rata. Timbang adunan dan bahagikan kepada 6 adunan anggaran 260g satu2 masukkan kedalam mangkuk dan bubuh warna. Bakar dalam oven yang sudah dipanaskan selama 10-15 minit
disuhu 170C atau ikut kepanasan oven masing hingga masak.)
Chocolate Ganache
200ml double cream with at least 30% fat content-(Ayu used whippping cream)-(200 ml whip krim)
250g dark chocolate, chopped finely-(250g coklat gelap di cincang halus)
a pinch of salt-(secubit garam)
In a double boiler, warm the cream until just at boiling point, add
the chocolate & salt and stir. When all the chocolate has melted,
remove for heat and continue stirring until all well mixed.
Let the cake cool completely, spread the cream cheese frosting and pour the ganache on top-(Menggunakan
kaedah double boil, cairkan whip cream hingga panas, masukkan coklat,
& garam kacau rata. Biarkan kek sejuk betul2 baru sapukan lemon butttrcream frosting dan tuangkan coklat ganache diatas.)
Lemon Buttercream Frosting:-
250g unsalted butter-(250g mentega tanpa garam)
75g shortening + 75g krimwell -(75g shortening + 75g krimwell)
200g confectioner's sugar-(200g gula ising)
2 tsp pure vanilla extract-(2 sudu kecil vanilla esen)
4-5 tbsp sunquick lemon-(4-5 sudu besar sunquick lemon)
2 tbsp lemon zest -(2 besar parutan kulit lemon)
Beat all the above till smooth. Add in lemon zest, mix well. Ready for piping.-
(Pukul kesemua hingga gebu. Masukkan parutan kulit lemon, gaul rata. Siap untuk di pipekan)
